Comptograph Model 101 and 101 WS 10-key mechanical add-lister, probably electrically driven. The photograph above is from an advertisement for the Comptograph (no model given) from Comptometer Ltd., in 1959. It is assumed that the Comptograph model 101 was similar. Comptometer Ltd. was amalgamated in 1961 with Control Systems' Sumlock Ltd. to form Sumlock Comptometer Ltd. Originally produced by Comptometer Corporation (or Comptometer Ltd., the British subsidiary), it is not known where they were made after the take over by Control Systems. Manufacture of Comptometers was transferred from the U.S.A. to Bell Punch Co., so these may have then been made by Bell Punch too. Were exhibited on the Sumlock Comptometer stand at the Business Efficiency Exhibition in October 1963. Prices were £87 10s Sterling [about US$245] for the model 101, and £180 Sterling [about US$500] for the model 101 WS.
If you have further information about the Comptograph sold by Sumlock Comptometer (especially photographs), the development of Anita calculators, or know of somebody who worked there, please get in touch with me. |
